Coupang Mesmerizes with Mega Beauty Event in Seongsu-dong

    Coupang successfully hosted its third beauty experience event at the Mega Beauty Show Virtual Store in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. From the 19th to the 21st, attendees who purchased products via Coupang's app could receive a "Beauty Box" worth up to KRW 280,000 on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The event offered a plethora of beauty product trials and featured K-Beauty consulting booths that provided marketing and sales strategy advice to small and medium beauty enterprises. Over 4,000 visitors attended over three days, expressing high satisfaction. This event is part of Coupang's strategy to strengthen its foothold in the beauty market, incorporating fun activities like games and roulette to enhance brand promotion.

Clio Strengthens Grip on Japanese Cosmetic Market with Strategic Acquisitions

    South Korean cosmetic manufacturer Clio has acquired stakes in several Japanese companies, including the cosmetic distributor Duwon and the import agency Kiwami, for a total of about KRW 8.3 billion. This move has led to the establishment of "Clio Japan," a formal corporation set to enhance Clio’s distribution and sales structure within Japan. 

Duwon has been partnering with Clio since 2013 to distribute popular Clio brands like Peripera across approximately 15,000 drugstores and variety shops throughout Japan. Clio's strategic collaborations and promotions, including limited edition products through partnerships with popular characters, have significantly boosted its brand recognition and sales in the competitive Japanese market.


MFDS Supports Cosmetic Manufacturers with CGMP Evaluation Guide

    The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has published a guidebook titled "Key Supplementary Cases in the Evaluation of Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) for Cosmetics," aimed at bolstering quality management among cosmetic manufacturers. The guidebook includes common compliance issues identified during CGMP evaluations and is intended to aid manufacturers in preparing for CGMP certification, crucial for competing in the international market. 

Since its introduction in 1990, CGMP has become increasingly important, especially as countries like China offer exemptions from certain tests for CGMP-compliant companies. The guidebook is expected to play a vital role in helping Korean companies enhance their global competitiveness.


Seoul City Fosters Beauty Industry Experts with 'Beauty Business Academy'

    Seoul City has launched the 'Seoul Beauty Business Academy' to train professionals in the beauty industry, focusing on manufacturing, marketing, and brand creation. The academy offers tailored courses for beginners and experienced workers, aiming to quickly integrate them into the workforce or assist with career transitions and startups. 

Additionally, special lectures on hair and makeup trends and job preparation are available to all students, including international students. This initiative is part of Seoul’s effort to respond to industry needs and strengthen its educational programs to support career and business opportunities in the beauty sector.
