South Korea’s MFDS Introduces Electronic Document Service for Cosmetics Industry

South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), led by Director Shin Joon-soo of the Biopharmaceutical Division, announced the implementation of an electronic document service for the cosmetics industry. Starting January 29, the service will digitally issue and manage various documents like cosmetics manufacturing registration certificates and notification certificates for customized cosmetics sales. From February 19, the service will expand to include CGMP (Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance certificates and English certificates, with a full-scale implementation set for March after a month-long trial period.

This digital transformation is expected to streamline the process of issuing, renewing, and storing documents in the cosmetics sector. The MFDS plans to hold seminars to help the industry adapt to this new system, emphasizing the adoption of automation and digital systems in the domestic cosmetics industry. This move aligns with the global trend towards sustainability and aims to aid Korean cosmetic companies in producing high-quality products and expanding their presence in international markets.

Daebong LS Registers Patent for Algae-Derived Peptide Cosmetic Ingredient

Daebong LS, a South Korean company, has registered a patent for a cosmetic ingredient derived from microalgae, marking a significant advancement in sustainable cosmetic materials. The company developed a technology to produce low molecular weight peptides from golden chlorella, which boasts a protein content of over 60%. Microalgae, thriving only on water and sunlight, align with the global trend of sustainability, producing half of the atmospheric oxygen and capturing ten times more carbon than forests.

The patented technology utilizes water, pressure, and plant-derived enzymes to extract peptides with minimal odor. The resulting ingredient contains peptides with an average molecular weight below 1700 Dalton, including a significant concentration of a low molecular weight vegan peptide at 3000ppm. This enhancement significantly improves skin absorption rate, depth, and speed. The ingredient, rich in amino acids essential for collagen synthesis, improves skin hydration, eye wrinkles, elasticity, facial lifting, and texture with just a 1% concentration. Daebong LS is committed to offering high-functionality anti-aging ingredients in line with the global ESG trend, supporting sustainable and innovative skincare solutions for both domestic and international markets.
