Kolmar Korea: A Global Leader in Sustainable Growth

Kolmar Korea has earned international acclaim by being recognized as one of the "2025 World's Best Sustainable Companies" by TIME magazine and Statista. This prestigious acknowledgment places Kolmar at 125th globally among 70 million evaluated companies and highlights its position as the only Korean cosmetics company in the top 500.

The evaluation criteria included revenue growth, financial stability, and environmental impact, weighted equally. Kolmar achieved a composite score of 81.44, with its 17% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) ranking in the top 25% globally. Additionally, its commitment to environmental stewardship earned Kolmar a spot in the top 10% for environmental impact among Korean companies, placing third domestically.

Kolmar Korea's success in sustainability is driven by innovative eco-friendly initiatives, such as its industry-first development of paper-based tubes and sticks. These products reduce plastic use by over 80%, positioning Kolmar as a pioneer in sustainable packaging. The paper tube, in particular, has drawn significant global attention for its breakthrough technology, while the paper stick minimizes environmental impact through the use of non-wood materials.

To further enhance its sustainable growth, Kolmar established an ESG committee to strengthen internal governance. This proactive approach led to recognition from Korea’s leading ESG evaluation agency, with Kolmar receiving an A-grade for its governance, environmental, and social practices.

Vice Chairman Yoon Sang-hyun remarked, "We are honored to be recognized as a global leader in sustainable growth. Moving forward, we will continue to advance ESG management and technological innovation to cement our role as a representative global company of Korea."

Kolmar Korea aims to leverage its sustainability-driven strategy to foster long-term growth in the cosmetics industry while solidifying its position in international markets.

Gounsesang Cosmetic, a leading name in global beauty innovation, has unveiled its vision for 2025 with the announcement of five key beauty trends encapsulated in the acronym "T.R.U.T.H." The trends reflect the future of beauty, focusing on Tailored Solutions, Refinement Literacy, Understanding Aging, Therapy Beauty, and Heartfelt Impact.

At the core of this initiative is Gounsesang’s proprietary AI-powered platform, “AI Optimi,” which analyzes 480,000 skin data points to deliver personalized skincare recommendations. These insights led to the identification of key trends reshaping the industry:

  • Tailored Solutions: Consumers increasingly demand personalized skincare. With AI Optimi, individuals can receive products precisely tailored to their ever-changing skin needs.
  • Refinement Literacy: Ingredient-conscious consumers are growing, placing emphasis on the transparency and efficacy of product formulations over branding or packaging.
  • Understanding Aging: A shift toward “slow aging” celebrates the natural aging process while promoting healthy and graceful skin care routines.
  • Therapy Beauty: Expanding beyond physical beauty, this trend integrates mental wellness with skincare, emphasizing the healing connection between mind and skin.
  • Heartfelt Impact: Consumers are drawn to brands that demonstrate genuine social responsibility and environmental stewardship.

Gounsesang Cosmetic anticipates that these trends will reshape consumer preferences and industry standards in the years to come. For instance, the growing popularity of "slow aging" reflects a cultural shift from combating aging to embracing it with health-focused, functional beauty products. Similarly, the emphasis on "therapy beauty" underscores the industry's response to consumers seeking both physical and emotional well-being through beauty rituals.

The company is also committed to fostering trust and authenticity in its products and practices. By enhancing its R&D capabilities and focusing on ingredient-driven innovation, Gounsesang is poised to meet evolving consumer demands.

Global Business Director Shin Yang-hee concluded, “Our 2025 beauty trends highlight the importance of authenticity in building meaningful connections with consumers. We envision a future where K-Beauty transcends its current influence to become a globally competitive force, with each brand leveraging its unique strengths.”

CJ Logistics Revolutionizes Packaging with Eco-Friendly Innovation

CJ Logistics has unveiled a game-changing solution for sustainable packaging: the “Retention Packaging” system, which eliminates the need for traditional cushioning materials while ensuring superior product protection. This innovative design marks a significant step forward in the logistics industry, offering environmental benefits alongside cost-efficiency.

The new packaging system is composed of corrugated cardboard panels and stretch film, arranged in a three-layer structure without the use of adhesives. The design includes strategically placed "legs" that create a 2.5cm buffer space, providing effective shock absorption during transit. This setup reduces the risk of product damage by over 30% compared to conventional packaging methods.

The sustainability credentials of this packaging are equally impressive. By completely eliminating cushioning materials, the design minimizes waste generation. It also incorporates PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastics for the stretch film, with plans to transition to biodegradable film (PHA) in the near future. Additionally, the system simplifies post-use recycling, as the cardboard and film can be easily separated.

Cost-effectiveness is another standout feature. CJ Logistics has reduced production costs by 50% compared to traditional retention packaging, making it accessible for a wider range of applications. Despite its affordability, the packaging maintains the same level of productivity in logistics operations as existing methods.

Extensive testing underscores the reliability of the Retention Packaging system. It has successfully passed the KS T 5055 national safety certification and undergone over 3,000 drop tests and 100 real-world delivery trials. The system has already garnered industry recognition, winning a special award at the 14th Green Packaging Competition.

Kim Jung-hee, head of CJ Logistics’ TES Logistics Technology Research Center, emphasized the broader implications of the new design, stating, "This innovation represents a paradigm shift in packaging, achieving both environmental sustainability and customer satisfaction. We remain committed to developing solutions that redefine industry standards."

With this pioneering effort, CJ Logistics aims to set a new benchmark for sustainable practices in the logistics sector.

Recently, microneedle skincare products have gained significant popularity, but Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has uncovered that over 80% of these products being sold online are making false or exaggerated claims. After reviewing 100 online posts, the MFDS found that 82 of them violated Korea’s cosmetics regulations, leading to requests for the posts to be blocked by the Korea Communications Standards Commission.
