Wando County Partners with France to Enhance Marine Healing and Biotech Industries

Wando County in South Jeolla Province has partnered with France to advance its marine healing and biotechnology industries. As the first in Korea to open a marine healing center, Wando County has taken a leading role in this field. Recently, it signed a cooperation agreement with Valdys, a French marine healing company, to share marine healing programs and technical know-how. This partnership aims to develop and differentiate the marine healing industry and further activate the marine biotech industry.

The collaboration with Valdys is expected to enhance the professionalism of Wando County's marine healing programs and create synergy in marine biotech and cosmetic development. Valdys operates various marine healing programs, including seaweed massages, underwater cycling, aqua fitness, and sea mist treatments, and has recently ventured into eco-friendly cosmetics and skincare.

Wando County also visited renowned French cosmetic companies BCM and Phytomer to discuss the development and application of cosmetics using Korean seaweed. These companies produce marine-based cosmetics, with Phytomer particularly noted for its spa-exclusive luxury marine cosmetics developed and produced through eco-friendly methods in its own research lab.

Additionally, Wando County explored the introduction of sports rehabilitation functions at the Wando Marine Healing Center by visiting the Normandy Rehabilitation Center, which specializes in using seawater and seaweed powder for joint and neurological patient treatments.

Wando County's Mayor, Shin Woo-chul, expressed optimism that the agreement would enhance the professionalism of the Wando Marine Healing Center's programs and expects significant synergy in marine biotech and cosmetic development through international collaboration.
